New Job

My last clinical day for nursing school, I talked to a charge nurse at the facility about my applications... I had been trying to get hired for 2 1/2 years. The next day I was called for any interview!

Needless to say, getting hired on at a hospital is hard and hard work! HOURS and HOURS of orientation before you can even work on the floor. Then crazy days!

Saturday was my first day on the floor. It is part postpartum and part med-surg. I am technically on med-surg. Saturday we had TWO patients. And there was a total of 6 on the whole floor! It was a SLOW but perfect day to learn most of the ropes.

Today on the other hand... our med-surg area was PACKED and the postpartum was busy too. 3 babies born between 6 am and noon! Needless to say. I learned a lot, walked a lot (6+ miles!), and am TIRED. I definitely need to get a good pair of shoes. My legs could use a good massage!

And I was proud to say, that I wasn't upset or jealous by all the babies, in fact I kept going "ohh a baby!!!" lol. Hoping I eventually get to work in L&D/postpartum myself. This is a big feat for me, considering I have a pregnancy counter on my phone to track my SILs pregnancy. My way of coping :)

Hope everyone is having a good new year!
